A COUNCIL’S new deputy leader has paid tribute to his predecessor who sadly died last month.
Cllr Glenn Harwood MBE was elected deputy leader by East Northamptonshire Council on Monday.
The authority’s previous deputy leader was Barnwell ward councillor Philip Hardcastle who died at the end of March.
Cllr Harwood MBE, said: “I would like to pay tribute to Philip’s wisdom and achievements in his time as deputy leader.
“I feel privileged in succeeding him in the deputy leader appointment.
“As with all councils, we have a tough road ahead of us, due in part to huge Government cuts, but we already have an effective savings plan in place and I know we are totally committed to providing our residents with excellent value-for-money services.”
