Police investigating the murder of nightclub boss David “Les” Ross searched the drains in Corby Old Village on Tuesday, February 26.

Sgt Tony Payne, at the scene, confirmed it was part of the police’s investigation into Mr Ross’ death but the police declined to comment further.

Mr Ross was found dead in the Village Express Hotel in The Jamb, Corby Old Village, on December 17. He had been repeatedly punched in the head, lost consciousness and died.

His murder appeared on Crimewatch on Thursday, February 14, and Det Chief Insp Martin Kinchin said the programme did give them some new leads.

He said: “Some useful information was received as a result of the show, which we will now be working through to establish if any significant detail has come to light.”

A £5,000 reward has been offered by Crimestoppers for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Mr Ross’s death. Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
