Dancers aiming to lift'¨the World Cup in Jersey

A dance school in Wellingborough is celebrating a successful year after dozens of its dancers were selected to represent England in a number of different competitions.

Members of the Kilburn School of Dance have qualified for a number of prestigious events, including the All England Dance Finals in London and the Dance Proms at the Royal Albert Hall – which the school has now qualified for three years in a row.

Amanda Wilkins, principal of the dance school, said: “This year we have had 16 dances selected through vigorous competition to represent England and go onto Jersey for the Dance World Cup 2016.

“This is a total of 40 pupils, some dancing in groups and others doing solos, duets or trios.

“The event is being hosted in Jersey which is relatively close to home hence our decision to enter.

“This is our first year of entry so we are delighted with our success and are also the only school in Northamptonshire to be chosen to represent England a great achievement.”

The school is raising funds for its entry and tracksuit costs, which are expected to be about £5,000. The school has already raised £3,000 thank to fundraising and donations from county firms.
