Dancer admits Olympic closing ceremony scam

A dancer has admitted duping 75 children, including youngsters from dance schools in Kettering and Wellingborough, over claims they would appear in the Olympics closing ceremony.

Stephen Moonesamy, 35, of Lowlands Close, Rectory Farm, Northampton, pleaded guilty to eight fraud chages at Northampton Crown Court last week.

Moonesamy’s fraud was discovered after genuine Olympic Games organisers raised the alarm when they heard rumours of the unofficial company, called The Red White and Blue (RWB) Project.

The company approached three dance schools in the county – two of which were the Dance Factory in Kettering and the Kilburn School of Dance in Wellingborough – and started to choreograph moves the 75 youngsters believed they would be performing at the ceremony.
