Fundraiser Simon Scott is gearing up for a charity cycle ride from Paris to Barclelona.

The 37-year-old, originally from Corby but who now lives in Kettering, has teamed up with friend Andy Thomas, 50, for the challenge.

Raising money for The Children’s Trust, the pair will set off from Kettering rail station on June 26, arriving back on July 5.

They are hoping to cycle for between eight and 10 hours a day. Simon said: “A member of Andy’s family receives support from the charity.

“It offers residential and community-based rehabilitation services for children and young people with acquired brain injury.

“This is the first cycling challenge I have ever done and I quit smoking to be fit enough to do it. I’ve been training for about 10 months and enjoyed seeing the countryside around Corby and Kettering.”
