A cyclist stole handbags from two women in Corby in separate incidents at the weekend.

Northamptonshire Police are investigating the two thefts and say they believe they may have been carried out by the same man.

The first theft happened on Saturday, January 3, at about 5.25pm in Elizabeth Street when a handbag was taken off the handlebars of a woman’s bike.

The suspect was a skinny white man who was wearing a dark hoody and riding a mountain bike.

After the theft, he rode away towards Alexandra Road and went through the car park of the Co-op supermarket.

On Sunday, January 4, another woman had her bag taken by a man on a bicycle in Beanfield Avenue.

She was walking with a friend at about midday and when she reached the junction with Westwood Walk and a man on a bike approached her from behind and took her bag.

He was a slim man and was wearing black trousers, a black hooded top and a high-visibility vest.

Witnesses to either of these thefts, or anyone who knows anything about them, can call Northamptonshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
