Cyclists are invited to meet officers from Kettering Safety Community Team in a cycle awareness event taking place tomorrow (Saturday) from 10am to 12.30pm.

The event will take place at the rear of Kettering Police Station in London Road to offer advice on security and staying safe while cycling, especially in the darker winter mornings and nights.

Free bicycle lights, purchased through Kettering Council, will be given to the first 50 cyclists between five and 15-years-old, who attend with their bikes.

Officers will also etch people’s postcodes on to the bottom of their bike frames to help prevent theft.
PC Sarah Bertram said: ”We hope the public will support us and attend on Saturday, it is an opportunity to safeguard your cycles, and show the community we are working towards reducing crime together.”
