Woman walking on the Racecourse in Northampton grabbed from behind and pushed to the floor by a man

A 20-year-old man has been arrested following an alleged assault on the Racecourse in Northampton.

The female victim, who is in her 20s, was walking through the park from Shakespeare Road towards St George’s Avenue when she was grabbed from behind by a man who pushed her to the floor.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: “Officers are appealing for witnesses and in particular would like to speak to three men who stopped to help the woman following the alleged assault and who may have information about the incident.

“A 20-year-old man from Northampton has been arrested in connection with the incident and released on police bail pending further enquiries.”

The incident happened between 9.15 and 9.30pm on Tuesday, October 4.
