Police issued an appeal for information after a dog-walker was racially abused and threatened in Northampton.

Officers are circulating a photo of a woman wearing a bright green coat who was seen in the area.

They believe she may hold key information which could help their investigations into the incident in Semilong at around 10.15 on Monday, July 20.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "A woman was walking her dog near to the basketball court in Semilong Road when she approached by another woman who shouted racially abusive language at her while threatening her with violence.

"Officers investigating the incident believe this lady may have information which could assist with their enquiries and are appealing for her, or anyone who may recognise her, to get in touch with us.

"If there are any other witnesses, or anyone has information in connection with this incident, please call 101, using reference 20000376058. Alternatively, who can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
