A woman who tried to intervene in an argument was punched in the face on a Kettering estate.

Police have launched an investigation after the attack in Doris Road on the Grange estate yesterday evening (Sunday).

Between 5.45pm and 6pm a woman in her 20s attempted to intervene in an argument between three females in the street.

But she was approached by two men, one of which was very animated and aggressive, who punched her in the face.

Her partner tried to intervene and was also assaulted by the man.

Both sustained injuries as a result of the incident.

A police spokesman said: "The offender is described as white and in his late 40s.

"He was of a large build, with short light-coloured hair and wearing a dark blue T-shirt with a large white logo on the front, dark jogging bottoms and white trainers.

"Anyone with information is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101 quoting reference number 20000440509. Or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."
