Witness appeal after attempted robbery

Police are investigating after an attempted robbery on Friday, June 7, at about 7pm at the Co-op in Field Mill Road, Northampton.

Four men wearing face coverings entered the store and attempted to steal cigarettes.

They were unable to steal the cigarettes and left.

The offenders stole recycling boxes from streets near to the Co-op store, which police believe they intended to use to hold the cigarettes. Officers are keen to speak with anyone who may have seen them take the boxes.

Officers are also appealing to anyone who may have seen a grey VW Golf, which was used by the offenders and later abandoned in the Rectory Farm area.

Witnesses to this incident, or anyone with information, should call Northamptonshire Police on 101.
