Magistrates in Wellingborough were told she had stolen various sweet items, although the value was unknown, and laundry products worth £57.

It was not the first time England had been before the courts accused of theft.

In October last year she stole laundry products worth £240 from a Co-op and in 2017 she stole meat worth £42 from an Iceland store.

She also assaulted a woman in 2017 by beating her.

And magistrates decided to send her to prison earlier this month because the offences were aggravated by her criminal record.

England, of King Street in Wellingborough, was jailed for a total of 12 weeks.

She must pay compensation of £57, costs of £135 and a surcharge to fund victim services of £128.
