Detectives launched an urgent investigation today after a 21-year-old man was rushed to hospital with head injuries after being attacked in Northampton.

Officers revealed the victim was assaulted at a property in Lower Meadow Court, Thorplands, at around 12.30 am today (July 2) and will be making door-to-door inquiries in bid to find out what happened.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "Our detectives would like to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident or who may have information regarding it.

"Officers and PCSOs from the Northampton Neighbourhood Policing Team will be in the area today to speak to local residents who may have concerns about the incident or anyone who may have information about what happened.

"The investigation team would also like to speak to anyone witnessed any suspicious activity in the wider area between midnight and 1am. Any motorists who may have been in the area during these times with dash cam footage are also being urged to contact police."
