Trio convicted after knifepoint attempted robbery in Kettering

Three teenagers have been convicted after demanding money from a boy in Kettering at knifepoint.

The victim, aged 16, was approached by three other boys who demanded he hand over cash in Wilson Terrace at about 4.15pm on March 20 last year.

One of the boys held a knife and a second had a plank of wood but the victim said he didn’t have any money and ran away.

Earlier this month a 17-year-old boy from Kent, who can't be named for legal reasons, was found guilty of attempted robbery at Northampton Magistrates' Court after denying the offence.

He was sentenced to a two-year conditional discharge. He must pay compensation of £50, costs of £350 and a victim surcharge of £20.

A 14-year-old boy from Kettering, who also can't be named for legal reasons. pleaded not guilty to attempted robbery and possession of an offensive weapon, a piece of wood.

He was also found guilty by magistrates and also sentenced to a two-year conditional discharge and ordered to pay compensation of £50, costs of £350 and a victim surcharge of £20.

Last month a 17-year-old boy from Kettering, who also can't be named for legal reasons, admitted attempted robbery and possession of a knife.

He was referred to the county's youth offending team for a contract for 12 months.

He must pay compensation of £100, costs of £350 and a victim surcharge of £21.
