A teenage girl was sexually assaulted as she played football in Kettering yesterday (Sunday).

Police have released a description of the suspect after the incident, which took place at about 4pm.

The victim, a 17-year-old girl, was with a friend at Kettering's rugby club in Waverley Road when a man approached her from behind and sexually assaulted her.

A police spokesman said: "The suspect is described as black, aged between 25 and 30, about 5ft 10in tall and of skinny build.

"He had very short afro style hair with slight facial hair and was wearing a dark-coloured striped T-shirt with beige shorts."

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident and police are appealing for witnesses.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
