Supermarket shopper had handbag stolen in Northamptonshire after being distracted

Thieves stole a woman's handbag while she was parked in a supermarket car park in Northamptonshire.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said the theft happened between 11.35am and 11.45am on Saturday (January 23) at Morrisons in Victoria Promenade, Northampton, when the victim placed her handbag on the passenger seat.

“A man then approached her asking for directions while a second suspect removes a purse from the handbag before making off towards Victoria Promenade,” the spokesman said.

Police described the first man as olive-skinned, stocky, 5ft 7in and aged 40-45. He spoke Spanish and broken English and was wearing a black leather bomber jacket and a black flat cap.

The second man was white, 5ft 7in-5ft 11in, with a stocky build. He wore dark trousers, a long-sleeved black jacket and a grey flat cap.
