A mother was left with a wounded arm after an unaccompanied dog bit her as she tried to protect her 10-year-old son and jack russell.

The woman was left with a wound and a bruise on her arm after the attack in West Street, Weedon, on Saturday.

The Staffordshire bull terrier, described as 18in tall, of average build and with no collar, approached the woman as she walked her pet with her son at about 5.45pm.

She picked up her son and dog, but the terrier jumped up several times trying to reach the jack russell.

It then but the woman on her upper arm.

Customers from a local pub helped assist the victim getting the offending dog away from the victim.

The dog ran away toward Church Street.
