Rock thrown from bridge over the A45 in Northants smashes lorry’s windscreen and hits driver in the face

A rock thrown at a lorry from a bridge over the A45 at Nene Valley Way, Ecton shattered the lorry’s windscreen and injured the driver.

The incident took place on Tuesday December 1 at 3pm when the offender threw the rock from the bridge overhead. It smashed the windscreen of the lorry and hit the driver in the face, causing an eye injury.

A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police said: “Witnesses or anyone with information should call Northamptonshire Police on 101, quoting incident number: 20000654844. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”

A similar incident happened in 2008 with fatal consequences after a 15-year-old boy dropped a breeze block onto a lorry driver from the Doddington Road bridge over the A45 dual carriageway, killing the driver instantly when it hit him in the chest.
