A convicted sex offender lived in Corby for six months without informing police of his whereabouts.

Jonathon Key, now of Claremont Road in Rugby, was placed on the register for sex offenders, a measure designed to monitor those convicted of a sex crime by keeping tabs on where they are staying, who they are staying with and where they are going to try and prevent future offending. Failing to meet the register's requirements is a crime in itself, punishable by prison.

Key had to notify police of any address where he stayed for seven days or longer.

But he lived in Harlech in Corby for six months until March this year without telling them - far longer than he was allowed to as a convicted sex offender.

He also failed to notify police of an address where he stayed for 12 hours or more where a child was living.

At Northampton Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (June 30) the 28-year-old admitted two charges of failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements.

He was granted conditional bail and will be sentenced on July 27.
