Property in Northampton closed after becoming hub of '˜significant nuisance and disorder'
A property in the Blackthorn area of Northampton has been served with a closure order as it was a place causing 'significant nuisance and disorder.'
The property, in Kirton Close, has been sealed by Northampton Partnership Homes and will be subject to closure for three months.
Northamptonshire Police in partnership with Northampton Partnership Homes and Northampton Community Safety Partnership served the order after it was granted by Northampton Magistrates’ Court.
No-one is permitted to re-enter the closed premises until the end of the order, and must find alternate accommodation. Anyone entering the address without police or court permission may be carrying out an arrestable offence.
PC Tom Afford, from the Northampton North safer community team, said: “Officers presented evidence the closure order was reasonable and necessary as it was resulting in significant nuisance, disorder and creating fear within the local community. The closure will help prevent this from continuing.
“Northamptonshire Police and partner agencies take reports of anti-social behaviour and repeat victimisation seriously. This is the second closure order successfully executed within the area recently.
“We will continue to take positive action using powerful legislation such as this, where violence and disorder is identified, to improve the quality of life for our communities and protect people from harm.
“We thank the local community for their ongoing support, patience and urge people to continue reporting.”
