Northamptonshire Police have urged people to avoid a village in south Northamptonshire after an 'incident'.

In a tweet issued just after 6.30pm on Thursday, a spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police said: "Police are dealing with an incident in the village of #Litchborough in south Northamptonshire. Residents are being asked to stay in their homes and motorists are urged to avoid the area at the present time. We will provide a further update in due course."

Some residents posting on social media say they have been evacuated from their homes in an area of Northampton Road in the village by police who have sealed of areas of the village and stopped people going in. One resident has posted that the bomb squad has arrived in the village to deal with a suspect package.

Police posted at around 7.15pm that the incident had been resolved and that the roads had reopened and people had been allowed back to their homes.
