Police probe after young girl approached by van driver in Kettering village

A van driver twice asked a young girl if she wanted a lift to school in a village near Kettering before driving off.

Police are investigating the incident, which was reported to them at 8am yesterday (Thursday) in Pytchley.

The girl was in Stringers Hill when she was approached by a man in a black van with blacked out windows and the registration place covered over.

He asked her for directions and then asked her if she wanted a lift to school twice before driving off. She refused both times.

A police spokesman said: "The man is described as a white man, aged between 30 and 40 and of medium build.

"He had dark hair in a short back and sides style, with a Corby/Scottish accent.

"He was wearing a white shirt, tie and red jumper."
