Police are cracking down on speeding motorists in a special operation to tackle the problem in Wellingborough today, Saturday.
Members of the Operations Tactical Unit will be joined by members of the Special Constabulary and trainee police officers for the crackdown, which will take place in Northampton and Wellingborough.
Police will be targeting drivers committing the “Fatal Four” offences of drink driving, not wearing a seatbelt, talking on a mobile phone and speeding.
PC David Lee of the Operations Tactical Unit, said the operation will be running throughout Saturday in both towns.
He said: “These operations always prove to be a success, which is a sad reflection on the number of people who are prepared to drive and break the law.
“Not only are those motorists who break the law putting their own lives at risk, they are also endangering the lives of others.”
The Operations Tactical Unit’s Fatal Four campaign focuses on the four most common offences that can contribute to a serious injury or death on our roads.
