Police confirm '˜no shooting incident' in connection with discovery of body in Northamptonshire

Detectives don't believe there to have been any shooting incident in connection with the discovery of a body in Northampton this week.

A body was discovered in bushes near to the A43 in Billing Brook Road at about 1.45pm on Tuesday.

A small section of the road was closed and a large tent has been constructed over the scene while officers carry out investigations to establish the circumstances as to how the body came to be there.

Rumours began circulating in the days that followed that there had been a shooting in the area.

Northamptonshire Police has now confirmed that they don’t believe to be any truth in the rumours.

The force said via Twitter: “We can confirm that we do not believe there to have been any shooting incident in connection with Billing Brook Road body discovery.”

A police spokesman said the body had yet to be identified and the cause of death was currently being treated as ‘unexplained’.

No further details have been released as yet by Northamptonshire Police.
