Police are appealing for information after a man was found unconscious and with head injuries in a block of flats in Northampton.

Northamptonshire Police were called to Portland Place, off Wellingborough Road in the town centre, at around 11pm yesterday (January 16).

The man had been found unconscious and with head injuries in a communal hallway and was then taken to hospital.

Today (January 17), he remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Detective Inspector Johnny Campbell, said: “Our task at the moment is to try and ascertain how this man’s injuries were caused.

“At this point we cannot rule out an assault and are therefore asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area last night to come forward.

“We are specifically asking for a male who was seen by witnesses appearing to help the injured man on the floor to come forward as he may be able to help us understand how the man came to be there.

“There will be an increased police presence in the area throughout the day."
