Detectives are appealing for witnesses after an attempted break-in at a house in a village near Wellingborough on Tuesday night.

Police say one of the occupants was at home when glass in a rear patio door was smashed in John Gray Road, Great Doddington, and the intruders fled empty-handed.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "Our officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the Great Doddington area at around 9pm.

"Anyone who may have any information regarding this incident is asked to call 101 using reference number 20000444575. Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111."
