A shoplifter who continually abused workers in Kettering has been banned from the town centre.

The 36-year-old Corby woman - who police have not named - has been issued with a community protection notice, a punishment given to persistent offenders which aims to reduce anti-social behaviour.

The drug user was given the notice yesterday because of persistent shoplifting and anti-social behaviour, which included being continually abusive to workers and members of the public after numerous reports of theft.

She has now been banned from the town centre and the retail parks in Northfield Avenue.
