Here's one police dog who knows a good way to cool down after hard work tracking down a suspect.

PD Kez was hot on the heels of a wanted male who tried to flee chasing officers on Wednesday and was suspected to be hiding nearby.

The suspect was no match for Kez, though, who searched the area and quickly found him hiding in a doorway .. then made no bones about letting handler PC Ben Rowell she fancied a doggy paddle as temperatures hit 30°C-plus on the way back to base.

PC Rowell was only too happy to oblige as a reward for Kez nabbing her 50th arrest on duty.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "All of our vehicles are air conditioned and great care is taken to ensure the dogs are kept cool and comfortable whilst still being able to work.

"But we’re pretty sure that when PD Kez asked her chauffeur/handler to pull over so she could have a 'moment' that this wasn’t what he had in mind. Clearly she needed to cool down after successfully locating a suspect."

Kez's pal PD Ebby also had a good result after being called to assist response officers when a male tried to escape.

Ebby tracked and collared the suspect trying to hide in a thorn bush in somebody’s garden! Ouch!
