A Wellingborough mother and father have appeared in court charged with causing or allowing their three year old daughter to suffer serious physical harm.

The pair both appeared at Northampton Magistrates’ Court charged with child neglect.

The court heard the young girl suffered two broken ankles and multiple bruising to her buttocks in 2014.

The girl’s injuries were uncovered after she was taken to hospital three days after doctors believed she suffered the fractures to her ankles.

The girl’s father pleaded not guilty to child neglect and causing or allowing his daughter to suffer serious physical harm.

The mother offered no plea to both charges.

District Judge Tim Daber declined jurisdiction in the case. The mother and father will appear at Northampton Crown Court for a preliminary hearing later this month.
