Carl Webb, aged 29, is required to inform Northamptonshire Police of any change of address as he was convicted of sexual activity with a child in 2009 and sentenced to three years in prison.

Northampton Crown Court heard Webb was evicted from an address in Wellingborough in November last year and told his offender manager that he would be sleeping rough in the town centre.

However, when he was contacted again a month later it was discovered he had been using social media in the early hours of the morning.

Jenna Allen, prosecuting, said Webb eventually admitted he had been visiting an address in Wellingborough.

Police officers attended this address and found a couple with two young children living there.

Mrs Allen said, after he was informed about Webb’s convictions, the homeowner told police that he had rented the room to him for £30 a week.

The court heard that Webb had a previous conviction in 2013 for failing to notify police of a change of address and was given an eight-month prison sentence.

His Honour Judge Timothy Smith sentenced Webb, who pleaded guilty to failing to notify police of a change of address, to 14 months in prison. He is likely to serve half in jail before being released on licence.
