A Northampton man has been jailed for 12 weeks for assaulting a woman.

Magistrates sent 24-year-old Mohammed Abushaker to prison after hearing his record of previous offences.

Abushaker, of Hangerfield Court, Northampton, denied the offence but was found guilty at a hearing in the town on Monday (February 8).

He also admitted a second offence of possessing a quantity of cannabis and cannabis resin in Gold Street in Northampton Town centre on September 22 last year.

Abushaker was also ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £128 plus another £620 in prosecution costs.
