Nobody hurt after big police presence on Wellingborough estate

Police have moved to reassure the public after part of the Hemmingwell estate was closed off last night (Thursday).

Residents reported seeing about nine police vehicles and two ambulances in Nest Farm Crescent, near the shops and basketball court.

They were called to the estate at about 6pm after concerns for a member of the public.

A police spokesman said: “No-one was injured during the incident and the man in question is now receiving the support he needs in partnership with Operation Alloy and the mental health street triage scheme.

“We’d like to thank our Special Constabulary who provided us with assistance during this incident with only half an hour’s notice.

"Their contribution to Northamptonshire Police is demonstrated time and time again and their support truly is invaluable.”
