Residents living near a Kettering alleyway where a woman was dragged off the street and sexually assaulted have spoken of their shock.

The victim, a woman in her 30s, was in Windmill Avenue in the early hours of Sunday when she was attacked by two predators.

She thought she was being followed and hid in a garden but at about 1am was dragged into the alleyway linking Windmill Avenue and Ise Road, where the men sexually assaulted her.

The woman is being supported by specially trained officers and agencies but the suspects have not been caught and a police hunt to find them is ongoing.

Sunny Singh, from the M&B Local shop opposite the alleyway, said he was "very shocked" when he heard what had happened.

He added: "It's not what you'd expect to happen around here."

A forensics team was at the scene for the majority of Sunday, with officers in masks and white overalls taking away samples in evidence bags after searching the area.

The alleyway, which links Ise Road's bungalows and family homes with the busier Windmill Avenue, was cordoned off but has since re-opened.

One Ise Road resident said the area was usually very quiet with a regular flow of people using the alleyway to go to the shop.

An elderly Windmill Avenue resident, who also didn't want to be named, said: "This area is a very, very nice area. It's made me worried about taking the dog out."

Today (Tuesday) a police spokesman said there was no update on their investigation and appealed for information.

They described the suspects as male with both being black or mixed race.

They said both were about 5ft 9in tall and of a stocky build and wearing all dark clothing.

One had black trainers and one had black and white trainers, the spokesman added.

Anyone who saw anyone matching the descriptions provided by police in the area, or who has any information, should call police on 101.
