A car driver who gave an unmarked police HGV 'the bird' was pulled over and had four people not wearing a seatbelt in the back...and was uninsured.

PC Dave Lee, from the Northamptonshire Police Safer Roads team, was out and about today with the Highways England unmarked lorry.

He tweeted earlier wondering what the day would bring.

"Not taken long and we have a smart car where the driver isn’t wearing his seatbelt. He didn’t like the HGV filming him, so gave the police HGV the bird. Unlucky for him. He hasnt anticipated us all behind. This is going to be a lovely surprise for him shortly."

He then posted later: "We have this smart car stopped that gave our police HGV the bird. Six people in it with four in the back not wearing seatbelts. Driver has no insurance and is a provisional licence holder !! All get tickets and vehicle being seized."
