Two men were arrested after an unruly mob turned on police officers in Kettering town centre in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Officers were surrounded by a gang as they responded to reports of a man vandalising a bus stop in Horsemarket at around 3.30am.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman confirmed a 22-year-old man was arrested for attempting to kick one of the officers.

A 21-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
