A woman by was threatened in her own home in Rushden by two masked men who fled with hair straighteners.

The terrifying incident happened in Southfields between 12.45am and 12.50am on Tuesday, July 28.

The victim, a woman in her 50s, opened her door when a woman she knew pleaded for her to open it.

But when she did two masked men entered her home and made demands for money, threatening her and saying they had weapons.

They then stole hair straighteners and fled the scene.

A police spokesman said nobody was injured in the incident, adding that the suspects were wearing dark-coloured face coverings.
