Man suffers cut to the head after being attacked in Northampton town centre

A man was punched to the floor after he was attacked in the early hours of the morning in Northampton town centre.

The victim, a 19-year-old man, and a friend were walking to McDonald’s in the Drapery when they were confronted by a group of about six men.

Following an altercation, one of the men in the group ran towards the victim and hit him several times. He was knocked to the ground and suffered a cut and scratches to his head and neck.

The suspect is described as black, aged 17 to 19, 5ft 10in with a stocky build and facial hair. He was wearing tracksuit trousers and a dark blue hooded top with the hood up.

Witnesses to the incident, which happened sometime between 4am and 4.30am on Sunday, 31 July, or anyone with information, are asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101. Alternatively, they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
