Man smashes door window of taxi in Northampton and takes off with £50 in cash

A Timberland bag containing £50 in change was stolen from a taxi that was parked on the drive of a residential property in Sandhurst Close, Northampton.

The theft took place between 8.45pm and 9.15pm on Sunday, February 7 when the offender smashed the driver's door window and stole a Timberland bag, which had been left under the driver's seat. It contained £50 in change.

The offender is described as a white man, six foot tall and of a slim build. He was wearing a grey hooded top, jogging bottoms, a beanie hat and a cross-body bag. He was carrying a torch and left the scene on foot, heading into the Sandhurst housing estate.

A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police said: "Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the theft, or who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area between the stated times."
