Police officers are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in the Derek Hooton Way car park in Wellingborough.

The incident took place between 9pm and 9.30pm on Tuesday (June 30) when the 35-year-old challenged a man who was acting suspiciously in the car park.

The offender hit the man with a piece of wood, causing significant facial injuries. It is believed the attacker fled on a red mountain style bike on to High Street.

The offender is described as a white man, aged 29-30, between 5ft 2in and 5ft 4ins, of a muscular build with short blonde hair. He was wearing a black shorts, a grey hooded top and a grey/yellow face covering with triangle on it.
