Man robs woman’s handbag in Northampton and goes spending on her card

He tricked the woman by approaching her to ask for the time before taking off with her handbag.

A 47-year-old woman was approached by a man on Greenwood Road in Northampton on Wednesday (December 16) and robbed of her handbag.

This incident happened at 5.40pm after the woman had unlocked her car and she was approached by a man, who wanted to know the time. He then snatched her handbag and ran in the direction of Althorp Road.

The woman’s card was subsequently used in three local shops.

Police have released a CCTV image of a man, who police would like to speak to in connection with this incident and are asking the public to help them identify him.

A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Police said: “Anyone who recognises the man pictured is asked to call Northamptonshire Police on 101, quoting incident number: 20000664479.”
