Man punched in Burton Latimer after answering door to 'phone company' attacker

A man answered the door to someone who said they were 'from the phone company' - before being punched in the face when he asked for ID.

And the attacker fled with the victim's iPad after the shocking incident in Burton Latimer on Tuesday (August 4).

Police are appealing for information after the attack in Higham Road, near the junction with Cornfield Way, between 10.50am and 11am.

A man knocked at the door of a house, telling the resident they were from the phone company.

But when the resident, a man in his 30s, asked to see ID he was punched and his iPad was taken by the attacker.

A police spokesman said: "The suspect is described as white, about 5ft 6in, of muscular/slim build and wearing a black face mask.

"He had a red T-shirt, yellow high visibility jacket and black trousers."

Witnesses or anyone with information should contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
