Man killed after being hit by a car in Northamptonshire has been named

A man who died after he was hit by a car while walking in Northamptonshire in the early hours of Saturday morning has been named.

The body of Roger Cridge, aged 54, was found on the A4500 near Ecton at around 3.30am.

Police said that Mr Cridge, from Rectory Farm, was hit by a car but the driver did not stop. He had been dropped off at 1.40am and it is believed he was hit as he walked along the A45000.

Two men, aged 23 and 35, were arrested on Saturday afternoon in connection with the collision and they have been released on bail pending further enquiries. Three cars were also seized.

The stretch of road was closed through the morning but was reopened later in the afternoon.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or have any information regarding it.

They would also like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed a man walking alongside the A4500 between these times.
