Man from Corby arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

A MAN who ramraided a fast food restaurant and then attempted to run over police officers who were trying to detain him has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The 49-year-old from Corby smashed a red Peugeot 406 into the KFC restaurant in Oakley Road at about 11.30pm on Thursday, threatened members of staff and then drove his car at an officer on the scene.

The officer escaped uninjured but another officer received minor shoulder injuries after the suspect drove into her car.

The offender fled the scene and following a full area search was found nearby on a garage roof and arrested just after midnight.

He remains in custody at Corby police station.
