Hunt saboteur airlifted to hospital with "multiple fractures" following collision with horse

Paramedics airlifted a hunt protester to hospital after he was seriously injured by a horse near Northampton.

The Northants Hunt Saboteurs group revealed the man in his 60s suffered fractures around his shoulder and ribs and a partially collapsed lung in an incident at Sibbertoft, near Welford, on Saturday (September 5).

The injured man has since been released from hospital.

The group said its members were attempting to disrupt a hunt meet.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "This happened between 8am and 9am when a group held a protest against a group of hunters.

"Allegedly, one of the hunters rode his horse towards one man in the protest group — a man in his 60s — knocking him to the floor and causing multiple fractures to his shoulder, collar bone and/or ribs which required him to be airlifted to hospital.

"The man has since been released from hospital and we have launched an investigation to look into an offence of GBH."

The Warwickshire and Northants Air Ambulance revealed they received a call at 9.12am and its Helimed53 chopper was on the scene at 9.28am.
