Hundreds of pounds stolen from elderly woman after thief watches her enter PIN number at Northampton supermarket checkout

A thief stole hundreds of pounds from an elderly woman's bank account after he watched her enter her PIN number at a supermarket in Northampton.

The theft happened at Waitrose in Harborough Road, Northampton, when a woman is believed to have observed the victim entering her number.

The victim was then followed outside to her vehicle in the car park by the woman and another, unknown man. The pair distracted her, causing her to leave her handbag inside her vehicle.

The female offender then took the victim’s bank card from inside the vehicle. A short time later, £480 was withdrawn from the victim’s account, using a local cash machine.

The offenders are described as both being in their 40s. The woman is described as 5ft and slim with tanned white skin, medium length brown hair and an Eastern European accent. The man is said to have been 5ft 2ins, with a slight build, tanned white skin and short, dark hair.

The offence was carried out on Thursday, August 4 between 12.26pm and 12.30pm.
