They made off with the Boodles ring and a Pandora bracelet before escaping via a kitchen window at the back of the house.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Briar Hill Road area between 9am and 4pm on Friday, August 21, or may have been offered jewellery like this for sale.

"The offender or offenders accessed the house via the porch before smashing a small window to unlock the front door.

"There may be other residents in the area with security cameras which may be able to help us. If there is anyone with information regarding this incident, please call 101 using reference number 20000437020. Or, alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
