Handbag robber who targeted elderly women in Northampton jailed for three years

A 41-year-old Northamptonshire man who stole cash from four elderly ladies after he stole their handbags has been sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison

Aaron Savill, of Cyril Street in Northampton, targeted women who had just withdrawn money from the cashpoint in Weston Favell shopping centre.

Northampton Crown Court heard Savill used the stolen money to fund his drug habit.

Three of the robberies were committed in September 2015 and one last month.

Savill pleaded guilty to a charge of robbery and asked for three other offences to be taken into account.

His Honour Judge Rupert Mayo sentenced Savill to 42 months in jail.
