Police have launched an investigation after the incident at the Tesco Extra in Carina Road between 10.40pm and 11pm, just hours after the store closed for Christmas.

The group - which a police spokesman said was believed to involve five people - broke into the supermarket through a security door using crowbars.

"A silver Audi saloon was seen to be acting suspiciously in the area around the time."
