Gang of "10-15 men in their 20s" wanted by police after 16-year-old is beaten and robbed in Northampton

A gang of men beat a 16-year-old boy in a shocking attack as he was out for a Bank Holiday bike ride in Northampton.

Detectives hunting the thugs revealed the teenager was confronted by a group of between 10 and 15 men all believed to be in their 20s while cycling on the Racecourse.

They punched the victim in the back of the head and the face, then pushed him to the ground before making off with his bike.

The incident happened between 6.15pm and 6.55pm on Monday (May 25) while the 16-year-old was cycled along a footpath near to the tennis courts.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: "The boy was approached and tried to cycle away before he was punched to the back of the head and then hit in the face repeatedly.

"As the boy ran from the offenders, they chased him and knocked him to the ground before continuing the assault and stealing his bike.

"One of the offenders is described as a white man in his 20s with black dreadlocks. He was of a muscular build and was wearing dark clothing. He was with a group of 10-to-15 black men who were also in their 20s and wearing dark clothing.

"If anyone has any information or may even have witnessed this incident, please call us on 101 quoting reference number 20000263924."
