A Corby man remains in a critical condition after he was violently assaulted in a quiet residential street.

Detectives are appealing for information after Lee Godfrey was seriously injured in an assault in The Nook, Corby, earlier this week.

Officers were called shortly before 1am on Tuesday (October 20), following reports of a fight and an injured man in the street.

Mr Godfrey, 29, suffered serious head injuries and remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Police investigating the alleged assault are appealing for information and are particularly keen to trace Lee’s movements during Monday evening and the hours leading up to the assault.

Detective Inspector Andy Rogers is urging anyone with any information to call Corby CID on 101.

He said: “This was an extremely serious incident, which happened in a quiet residential area in the middle of the night.

“We are trying to piece together what happened, in particular in the hours leading up to the attack on Lee, and need to know where he was and who he was with.

“We have taken the unusual step of releasing his photograph in the hope that someone will recognise him and remember seeing him between 5.15pm on Monday evening and 12.45am on Tuesday morning.

“Anyone who saw or spoke to Lee on Monday evening, or anyone with any information that may help the investigation, can call us in confidence on 101, quoting incident number 20 of 20 October.

“Alternatively, they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or use the anonymous online form at”

Four men, aged 39, 33, 32 and 21, all from Corby, have been arrested in connection with the incident and released on police bail pending further enquiries.
